The visual arts have always been a way for me to tastefully break the rules. Learning proper and traditional techniques through my bachelors degree in Graphic Design has given me the courage to create my own style that gets a clear message across to the viewers. My design has always been illustration filled, colorful, and playful.

Kwesi Abbensetts (b. Guyana) is a New York based multi-disciplinary Artist and 2016 NYFA Fellow who hails from South America off of the Corentyne coast of Guyana. He is a self-taught artist. I got a chance to take photos of Kwesi in his New Jersey studio as well as sit down and talk to him about his work and first solo show featured at MoCADA in the summer of 2019.
