Conceptualizing and creating murals is such a special and humbling experience. Each neighborhood is so different and it's a fun challenge to create something that will uplift each neighborhood uniquely. When standing on ladders for 4-5 days in a row, I get to feel the authentic spirit of whatever neighborhood I’m painting in. the social aspect of it is always encouraging and fun. I love interacting with locals and learning about peoples opinions on the art I’m creating. My main goal is putting out a positive message that could make someones day if they walk by it. A small gesture that might help spread positivity and brighten streets using art and design.
Atlantic Terminal hired MoCADA museum to commission 3 artists to create a mural for the community. I had to opportunity to design, produce and paint this mural with co-artists Audrey Lyall and Macy Rajacich. We wanted to create something with a friendly reminder to “Take it Easy”. Something to uplift the community in this time of uncertainty and stress.
Commissioned to paint this iconic image from Hayao Miyazaki’s film “My Neighbor Totoro”
